CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio -- The American Civil Liberties Union and an Ohio school district are locked in a fight over a video-game magazine banned from a school library.
The November issue of Nintendo Power magazine was yanked from the library of Roxboro Middle School in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights district. The principal took the move because he considered the cover to be violent and because of material dealing with a game rated for adults.
The ACLU says the First Amendment was violated. The school librarian also complained, saying the principal pulled the magazine without going through the usual procedure.
The Cleveland Heights-University Heights school board has sided with the principal and says he has a responsibility to act in the best interest of students.
