COLUMBUS, Ohio — A grandfather suffered severe head trauma while trying to intervene in an assault on his grandchild.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS Thursday.
A group of male and female teens drove to William Smith’s North Side home on Blenheim Road to speak to his granddaughter, according to CPD.
That was about 7:25 p.m. Wednesday.
The group became involved in an assault on Smith’s teenage granddaughter, the police report said.
Smith, 47, came to the defense of his granddaughter and tried to stop the alleged assault.
CPD said Smith was punched and knocked to the ground by one of the suspects who was described as a black male who is 6 feet 6 inches tall and weighed 300 pounds.
Smith was rushed to a local hospital and suffered severe head trauma.
He was listed in critical condition.
