COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A gas leak closed a Northeast Side road Friday.
City of Columbus workers were working on installing traffic signals at the intersection of Lee and Central College roads and hit a gas line.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.
Plain Township and Columbus fire crews plus Columbia Gas were on the scene.
Fire medics were call to the scene for the safety of the gas workers
The leak began close to 11 a.m. and lasted until about 1:15 p.m. Friday.
Apparently, gas has been bubbling up in the road and was building in the sewers.
Lee Road was closed at Central College and Lee roads.
The duration of the closing wasn't estimated.
It does not appear that any area homes were evacuated.
The leak was not all that dangerous, according to CFD Battalion Chief David Whiting. He said the gas probably was "bubbling" because it was underneath some water in the opening where the city had excavated.
