COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Columbus police found themselves in the middle of an East Side neighborhood shootout Thursday night.

The incident occurred around 9:20 p.m. Thursday.
According to police, an officer on routine patrol was stopped by a man who said he heard shots fired nearby.
The officer found a group of people shooting at each other on Hawthorne Avenue and called for backup.
A city-wide ‘officer in trouble’ call was dispatched.
Columbus police took five individuals into custody and have charged one individual currently.
Andrea Smith-Taylor, 21, was charged with discharging a gun within city limits and failing to secure firearms.
The incident remained under investigation and additional charges could follow.
No injuries were reported.
