NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.

Volunteers were set to extinguish one of the city's problems, cigarette butts.

Mayor Mike Coleman was to host the cleanup project that aims to remove cigarette litter and visible debris from 23 highway entry and exit ramps in core Columbus-area neighborhoods.

These organizations were involved: Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman, ODOT District 6, Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Central Ohio’s GENnext, Columbus Young Professionals Club, The Remodelor’s Council of the Building Industry Association of Central Ohio and Keep Columbus Beautiful.

More 390 volunteers, including NBC 4's Mike Bowersock and Monica Day, were scheduled to be out cleaning up the streets in hopes of raising awareness that cigarette butts are trash.

The kickoff was scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Dodge Park on Sullivant Avenue.
