CHILLICOTHE, Ohio -- A man was killed in an accident that closed a state Route for several hours early Tuesday.

State Route 104's northbound and southbound lanes were closed at Pennyroyal Road or mile marker 23 in Ross County.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the crash happened at about 4:53 a.m. Tuesday.
David Gibson of Chillicothe was operating a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am northbound on S.R. 104 when his vehicle ran off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail, according to OSP. Gibson’s vehicle crossed the road and struck a bridge rail before crossing the road for a second time and striking the guardrail again.
Gibson was partially ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, OSP said.
The route was reopened to traffic before 8 a.m.
The fatal accident remained under investigation.
