COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Police continued to investigate a nighttime shooting that left a victim in critical condition.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS Tuesday.
Columbus Police received a call on a reported shooting near East Livingston Avenue and Coburg Road on the city's East Side.
That was at about 9:35 p.m. Monday.
Medics said the 23-year-old male was shot as much as five times and had gunshot wounds to his upper and lower back, buttocks, leg and arm.
CPD identified the shooting victim as Ashton Grooms.
Police said Grooms was shot while standing in front of a home on Cunard Square.
Three suspects drove up to Grooms in a gray SUV. All three got out of the vehicle, but one man yelled at the other two to get back in as he fired several shots at Grooms and hit him five times, according to a police report.
All three suspects fled the scene in the SUV, CPD said.
Grooms was transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition.
CPD's assault squad continued to investigate the shooting.
