FRESNO, Calif.- Companies including Cincinnati-based Kroger are now pulling pistachios because of a salmonella scare similar to the recent one involving peanut butter.

The government says a California supplier called Setton Pistachio is voluntarily recalling more than 2 million pounds of its roasted nuts. The Food and Drug Administration says Kraft Foods notified the agency that it had detected salmonella in roasted pistachios through routine product testing.

Late last week, Kroger recalled one of its lines of bagged pistachios saying the nuts also came from Setton Pistachio's California plant.

Two people have called the FDA complaining of gastrointestinal illness that could be associated with the nuts, but the link hasn't been confirmed.
