FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio -- Last Friday's tornado warning provided the spring's first real need to use the county's warning sirens.
Mike Pannell heads up the county's Emergency Management Agency and tells NBC 4 none of the sirens had any problems when they sounded.
Pannell says all 160 sirens worked.
But he did share with NBC 4 that a study done a few years ago for the county showed a need for approximately 234 sirens.
Pannell says the study did not take into account topography, elevation and other sound factors, though.
He says the county plans to have a total of 200 sirens installed in the future to fully protect citizens from storms when they are outside in the elements.
Madison Township will soon have a new one, and 10 are on order for Columbus.
