COLUMBUS, Ohio -- New legislation backed by State Rep.Ted Celeste would protect renters whose landlords go into foreclosure.
The proposed legislation would require landlords to inform current and potential tenants if a property goes into foreclosure.
It would also ensure that renters be given a three weeks' notice of any sheriff's sale of a home or apartment building.
The bill passed the Ohio House and is now before the Senate. If you're about to rent check the sheriff's website to see if the home or building is in foreclosure before you sign on the dotted line.
