MARION, Ohio -- Two children were killed and four others were injured in a fatal apartment fire early Friday afternoon.
According to the state fire marshal's office, the blaze occurred at a multi-unit apartment building on Blaine Avenue in Marion.
Neighbors said a woman was crying out that her children were inside.
Greg Mark, who lives across the street, ran inside the home without hesitation and managed to pull a teenager and young child out of the burning home.
Unfortunately, he could not save everyone.
According to the Marion fire department, a 7-month-old girl and 3-year-old boy died in the fire.
Fire officials say the fire started in the children's bedroom but still are investigating a cause.
A state fire marshal investigator says it could be weeks before the cause is determined.
Three other people were treated for smoke inhalation.
Four children and four adults occupied the apartment.
The fire remained under investigation.
