COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A man was sentenced after a woman’s body was found in a dumpster on the city’s near East Side more than a year ago.

Raymond Lamar Ford, 21, was found guilty on one count of aggravated murder, one count of tampering with evidence and two counts of felonious assault.
Columbus police found 30-year-old Jessica Verma’s body in a dumpster in January 2008.
According to detectives, Ford stabbed Verma, an acquaintance, multiple times in the upper body, and left her body in the dumpster at an apartment complex on Author Place.
Judge Stephen L. McIntosh sentenced Ford to 15 years to life for the murder charge, five years for tampering with evidence and eight years for the assault charges. The 28-year-to-life sentence was to be served consecutively.
