Clemency Denied For Murderer

»  Comments | Post a Comment

COLUMBUS, Ohio
The Ohio Parole Board has rejected a request for mercy from a man sentenced to death for locking a woman in the trunk of his car and burning her alive.

The board ruled 8-0 Friday in Columbus to recommend that Gov. Ted Strickland deny clemency to death row inmate Daniel Wilson.

Wilson is scheduled to die by injection June 3.

The board says it is troubled by Wilson's abusive childhood, which included his father handcuffing him to a chair and beating him.

But the board says that history does not outweigh the choice Wilson made to kill Carol Lutz in 1991 in Elyria.

The 39-year-old Wilson also has asked a federal judge to delay his execution pending the outcome of a lawsuit challenging Ohio's lethal injection process.
