COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Mount Carmel's community outreach program is trying to replace its 11-year-old mobile coach.
The mobile coach provides daily urgent-care services to people without insurance and those who can't afford primary care doctor visits.
The medical staff takes care of immediate needs on the mobile coach and then works to refer patients to a regular doctor.
The staff draws blood, takes X-rays, prescribes medicine and even performs minor surgery.
It's the program's way of giving back to the community.
The coach regularly visits 10 locations in areas where people don't have adequate transportation to medical facilities.
Patients are never billed.
The whole operation relies on donations.
So far, the Mount Carmel Foundation has raised $200,000 of the $400,000 needed to replace the coach and all the medical equipment inside.
