WOODBRIDGE, Va. -- A Woodbridge mother was charged Friday after police said she ran over her daughter with her car.
Sheronica Rene Prater, 39, of 16433 Steerage Circle, came home Friday to find that her two 12-year-old daughters were not at home.
When she went out looking for them she found the girls just blocks away from her house, said Prince William police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez.
One of the girls began arguing with her mother, and when Prater got into her car and stepped on the accelerator, the girl walked in front of it and was hit, said Hernandez.
The girl suffered minor injuries.
Prater was charged with malicious wounding and was released on her own recognizance, said Hernandez.
It is not clear if Prater knew her daughter was in front of the car when she accelerated.
Hernandez said that is still under investigation.
Prater is scheduled to appear in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
