COLUMBUS, Ohio — A former city manager was sentenced Wednesday after he pleaded guilty to an importuning charge.

William H. Nelson Jr., 48, was charged with one count of importuning.
He communicated in an online chat room with a detective posing as a 14-year-old girl, according to authorities.
That was on or about Oct. 3, 2008, according to Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney Ron O’Brien.
Nelson arranged to meet the “girl” at a Grove City restaurant. Nelson was arrested upon arrival at the determined meeting location.
Nelson pleaded guilty to the charge, a felony 5, in a Franklin County courtroom before Judge Charles Schneider Tuesday, March 31.
Nelson was sentenced Wednesday to three years of community control and he must register as a Tier 1 sexual offender.
Nelson resigned from the position of Miamisburg city manager.
