COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Neighbors on one side of town have been on high alert after a recent spike in crime.

Residents have been taking precautions after a rash of burglaries and thefts on the city’s Northeast Side.
Six crimes have occurred in CPD’s precinct 182 since Sunday, May 10. The precinct is bounded by Interstate 270 on the north, city limits to the west, Karl Road to the east and East Dublin-Granville Road to the south.

Of those six crimes, two were attempted burglaries, one was a stolen vehicle and another was a theft from a vehicle.
Another was the burglary of James Ballows' home.
Ballows said the burglars went through every room, door, dresser and closet.
Ballows and other residents said they’re locking windows and doors and watching for suspicious activity.
