Ohio Auditor To Seek Re-Election

»  Comments | Post a Comment

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio Auditor Mary Taylor confirms she will run for re-election in 2010.

Taylor, an Akron-area Republican, had also been considering a bid for U.S. Senate. She said Wednesday she has decided her talents are best devoted to the auditor's job.

Taylor is the first certified public accountant elected to the state auditor's job, and the only Republican in statewide nonjudicial elective office.

She is likely to face Democrat David Pepper for the post. Pepper, a Hamilton County commissioner, announced plans to run for the job last week and has been endorsed by Gov. Ted Strickland.

The auditor holds a seat on the state Apportionment Board, which draws legislative districts every 10 years.

Hamilton County is seated at Cincinnati.
