COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Suspects tried to get rid of alleged evidence and led Columbus police on a short pursuit early Friday.

CPD responded to a report of a shooting on Fabron Avenue on the city's near East Side around 1 a.m. Friday.
No shooting victim was found, but an undercover officer witnessed a group of people who were loading firearms into a nearby vehicle, CPD said.
The suspects drove away from that scene, and the officer followed the vehicle.
Investigators told NBC 4 when the group realized they were being followed, someone threw a handgun out of the vehicle's window.
The firearm landed on the undercover officer’s vehicle, according to reports.
A short pursuit began, CPD said.
The suspect's vehicle hit a tree in the area of Leona and Sinclair avenues, but the vehicle wasn't immediately stopped. The vehicle succumbed to crash damage and came to a stop at East 5th Avenue and North 21st Street.
Three males and one female were taken into police custody.
Investigators said a loaded 12-gauge shotgun was found on the front seat of the vehicle.
