CLEVELAND, Ohio -- An Ohio teen has been charged with murder in the death of a guard at a state-run juvenile detention center near Cleveland. The 18-year-old is accused of kneeing the guard in the abdomen during an April 29 assault in the laundry room at the Cuyahoga Hills Juvenile Correctional Facility.
Cuyahoga County assistant prosecutor Michael Horn said Friday that the teen, who was 17 at the time of the guard's death, will be tried as an adult. Authorities said the boy, whose identity wasn't released, is from Erie County. He is charged with murder and felonious assault in the death of 39-year-old William Hesson of North Canton. Earlier Friday, a Cuyahoga County coroner ruled the death as a homicide, saying Hesson died of cardiac rhythm disturbance caused by a blow to the abdomen.
