ELYRIA, Ohio -- If you're one of Ohio's working poor, Barbara Klingshirn is happy to help you out. Her temporary warehouse collects used furniture, clothes and house wares and redistributes them at no cost to the needy. But if you're not working or not looking for work, don't expect much but a lecture. The 60-year-old from Elyria says she has no time for freeloaders and believes people should try to help better their own lives.
She created a nonprofit called "Freely... Freely," based on a Bible passage about freely giving and receiving, and opened the warehouse in January. She estimates it has served more than 200 people and turned away 200 others. She says her stance on work comes from being one of eight children in a poor family.
