CANTON, Ohio -- An Ohio woman is proud of her 3-year-old son for getting help when she blacked out at home. Michele Cearfoss of Jackson Township outside Canton says doing yard work in the heat on Sunday was apparently too much after a recent illness, and she fell unconscious in her house later in the day.
Cearfoss had taught her toddler, Jagger, how to respond to emergencies. So, he unlocked their backdoor and went across the family's backyard in 9 p.m. semidarkness to the home of neighbor Hazel Schwartz. He had to stand on tip toes to reach the doorbell. Schwartz says Jagger told her, "Mommy sick. Mommy is on the floor.” At the boy's home, Schwartz revived Michele Cearfoss and called 911. Cearfoss was treated for dehydration and an irregular heartbeat.
