WHITEHALL, Ohio -- A reward is offered for tips in connection with a robbery last month in the Whitehall area.
According to Central Ohio Crime Stoppers, on April 30, at about 7:20 a.m., a 74-year-old man awoke to the sound of someone knocking on his front door.
When the victim opened his door slightly, an unknown person kicked open the door and forced his way into the victim's apartment.
Once inside the suspect ordered the victim to the floor at gunpoint and demanded the victim's wallet, which contained cash and credit cards.
The suspect then fled the apartment.
According to investigators, shortly after the robbery occurred, two men used the victim's credit card at a Lowe's store on East Broad Street, where they purchased a Troy Bilt table saw valued at $255.
The suspect who entered the victim's apartment is described as a black male in his 30s. He is 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing between 190 and 230 pounds and bald. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt.
Crime Stoppers has posted a reward of as much as $2,000 for any information received by June 10, 2009, leading to the arrest and/or indictment of the persons responsible for the crime.
