District's Warning Letter A False Alarm

»  Comments | Post a Comment

WORTHINGTON, Ohio -- Worthington City Schools sent a letter home to parents Thursday, but the letter actually was a false alarm.

NBC 4's Ana Jackson reported with the FAST FACTS from district spokesperson Vicki Gnezda.

Two girls said they were approached by a stranger Wednesday who asked about a missing necklace.

The stranger actually was a father who saw one of the girls lose a necklace when she got off the bus.

He stopped and tried to give it to the girl, but she didn't recognize him and ran away.

A citizen alert was sent out.

A third girl heard the story from the alert and then fabricated her own story Thursday. She said the man approached her and tried to grab her.

The school thought it was a second instance and sent home a warning letter.

The letter from the district was a false alarm as was the citizen alert.
