COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Local police said officers caught two suspects in the act of robbing a local mini-mart and said the arrests could bring a string of area robberies to an end.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.
CPD said two men pulled up to the Weber Mart, at the intersection of East Weber Road and Indianola Avenue, in a pickup truck around midnight Friday.
One suspect went inside to distract the store clerk while another suspect cut open the propane cage with bolt cutters and threw 10 tanks into the back of the pickup, police said.
CPD had been conducting surveillance on the suspects for days and made the arrests shortly after the alleged theft.
Officials said the Weber Mart robbery might not have been the only one the two suspects have attempted in the nearby Clintonville area.
CPD Sgt. Richard Ketchum talked to NBC 4 about Friday's arrests.
"We made a couple apprehensions on two individuals that we had received information on several weeks ago that had been conducting business burglaries and thefts from multiple locations throughout this general area of town," Ketchum said. "We believe they've been involved in numerous burglaries throughout this end of town, anyway."
