COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Arson investigators were called to a North Side house fire Sunday evening.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.
Columbus fire was called to a home on the 100 block of West North Broadway Street, between Milton Avenue and High Street, at about 5:15 p.m.
A portion of West North Broadway Street was closed for almost two hours as firefighters worked to knock down the blaze.
The fire apparently originated in the kitchen area.
There wasn't a smoke detector inside the home, Battalion Chief Kevin O'Conner said.
"That would have been good. He would have gotten out quicker. We would have gotten here earlier. The damage would have been less," O'Conner said about the lack of a detector.
Columbus fire hasn't confirmed the cause of the fire.
O'Conner told NBC 4 Columbus police was called to the same home twice earlier in the day on domestic violence calls.
Authorities weren't confirming the fire was set but did bring arson investigators to the scene.
"We're hearing the same stories. We don't have anything right now to confirm it one way or another, but that's why we have our investigator coming out here," O'Conner said.
Early damage estimates were $15,000.
No one was injured in the blaze.
No more immediate information was available.
