COLUMBUS, Ohio -- An electrician was transported to the OSU Burn Center after an electrical panel exploded at the Chiller Easton Ice Rink Thursday.

Columbus police and fire crews were called to the scene at about 12:45 p.m.
A Chiller employee was working on a 480-volt power panel when the panel sparked and caught fire.
He was thrown to the floor, and the area began to fill with smoke.
Patrons and employees were evacuated as fire crews contained the fire. Witnesses said the unit still was sparking as fire crews arrived.
The incident currently was being declared an industrial accident.
The ice rink at 3600 Chiller Lane was to be closed to the public during an investigation. They are trying to restore the power to the compressors. The compressors maintain the ice for the rinks.
Homicide detectives also were called to the scene as well as OSHA.
CPD said it's standard procedure to call in homicide and it's not an indication of illegal activity or the victim's death. If assault squad was on shift right now, they'd have been called. The squad was called in to confirm/deny that anything illegal was going on.
Authorities have not identified the electrician, but he was conscious when he was transported from the scene.
