Longtime Couple Not Separated Long By Death

»  Comments | Post a Comment

CINCINNATI -- A Cincinnati man and woman married more than 60 years have not been separated long by death.

Eighty-six-year-old Laura Presutto died Sunday. Her husband, Joseph Presutto, who was the same age, died Tuesday at the nursing home where they shared a room.

Their only child, Donna Presutto, says the bond between her parents was extraordinarily strong.

The daughter says her mother was in declining health for months and may have held on out of a belief that her husband would be "right behind her" in death. Laura Presutto's passing came just hours after doctors diagnosed her longtime mate with double pneumonia and told the family he was unlikely to live long.

The couple met during World War II and were married in 1947.
