DANVILLE, Ohio – The Mt. Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred just after 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2009. The crash occurred approximately two miles east of Danville in Knox County.
Authorities say 45-year old Vicci Sapp of Danville was traveling eastbound on US 62 when she drove off the right side of the roadway striking a guardrail, then slid across the roadway, striking the guardrail on the left side of the road causing the vehicle to overturn several times.
The right front passenger, 41-year old Angela Heldenbrand was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other passengers in the vehicle were both transported to Knox Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Sapp was arrested for OVI at the scene and is incarcerated at the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. Alcohol is considered to have been a contributing circumstance in the crash.
