WAVERLY, Ohio -- A Pike County man who avoided charges of kidnapping and assault because of a prosecutor's paperwork error will spend the next year in prison.
Michael Hall pleaded no contest Monday to a charge of illegal possession of a weapon in a school safety zone. A judge sentenced him to one year in prison.
Hall had faced up to 19 years for kidnapping and assault before the charges were dropped last week.
The prosecutor mistakenly wrote the wrong date of the crime on the indictment and hall was held for more than 90 days in jail, violating his right to a speedy trial.
