COLUMBUS, Ohio – A few northeast Columbus residents were awakened to a fire Tuesday morning by a neighbor banging on their doors.

Columbus firefighters responded to a report of a fire on the 2800 block of Perdue Avenue just before 3 a.m. Tuesday.
When fire crews arrived to the scene, they found an apartment building on fire. They say a woman was going door-to-door trying to wake neighbors and alert them of the fire by banging on their doors and windows.
At least one apartment was damaged by fire and others had smoke damage. Red Cross officials were called to help the residents unable to go back into their homes.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
No injuries were reported from the incident.
