CINCINNATI -- An Ohio police chief says a police officer fatally shot a man who fled after a traffic stop and exchanged gunfire with officers.
Cincinnati Police Chief Tom Streicher says a traffic officer tried to pull the man over for a traffic violation and the man got out of the car and showed officers a gun. Streicher says that prompted an exchange of gunfire.
Streicher says other officers joined the chase and the man was spotted in a nearby car wash parking lot. He says the man was shot in another exchange of gunfire and died at the scene.
Police have not confirmed the man's identity and say it is unclear how many times he was shot.
The coroner says the man had multiple gunshot wounds. An autopsy will be done Wednesday.
