ETNA, Ohio -- A local business owner said he's picking up the pieces and getting back to business after an overnight fire.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.
Shane Johnson has spent the last 17 years establishing S.J. Professional Painting.
Much of the building was engulfed when firefighters were called to his business on the 1000 block of Columbus Street at about 12:30 a.m.
Johnson rushed to the building at about 1:30 a.m. after a neighbor called and said the building was on fire.
Johnson's father was inside the building at the time of the fire, but he was able to escape safely.
"It went to the ground. I was sad, but yet I found a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel in seeing there was still somewhat a structure intact," Johnson said.
It took fire crews about an hour to contain the fire.
Johnson said about 85 percent of the building was destroyed, including a garage area. Fortunately, the front office area and some important files likely can be salvaged.
"We're just letting it all dry out and see what we can come out with," Johnson said.
Investigators pinpointed the cause of the fire, according to Johnson. The fire started in a truck parked next to the building.
Johnson said rags used for staining apparently combusted in the back of the truck. The fire quickly spread to the building.
The company just began using a new stain product that's more environmentally friendly. Johnson said he has never seen a rag combust before.
He already was making plans on how to get back in business and put his seven employees back to work by the week's end.
"We're going to bring a mobile camper in here, and I got guys and clients that depend on me as far as today. So I'm going to try to get a 48-hour gap and try to get everything set up, Johnson said.
"We're going to keep it flowing. We've got to look at this time as glass is half full."
Two firefighters received minor injuries when a portion of the roof collapsed a few hours after the fire was contained. Both firefighters were transported to Mount Carmel East Hospital in stable condition. Both were treated and released.
The estimated damage was $250,000 to $300,000.
