COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A one-time aide who helped bring about the downfall of former Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann has been sentenced to 45 days on unrelated theft in office and other charges.
Gutierrez was sentenced to 45 days in jail and 5 years of probation and was to pay $6,900 in restitution.
Per a joint recommendation from prosecution and defense, Gutierrez was to serve his sentence on weekends only, starting in December. He was to serve his sentence in the Franklin County Jail.
He was pleaded guilty to two felonies and four misdemeanors, most involving his private construction business in Youngstown.
He was the central figure in a sexual harassment scandal that brought down Dann.
Gutierrez was Dann's general services chief and his roommate at a Columbus condo where the two men and a third cohort hosted booze-filled parties with young female employees.
Dann resigned last year.
