WASHINGTON
About 664,700 gas grills are being recalled in the U.S. and Canada because of defects that could to injury.
The Perfect Flame SLG series gas grills are being recalled because the burners can deteriorate, causing irregular flames, and the lids of some models can catch fire, posing fire and burn hazards.
So far there have been 40 reports of fires resulting from the deteriorating lids and 23 reports of the lids catching fire.
Of those instances, 21 people have reported minor burns to the hands, arms or face and one reported eye injury that required surgery.
The grills, made in China by Lucas Innovation Inc., were sold at Lowe's retail stores nationwide in the U.S. From September 2005 through May 2009 and in Canada from December 2007 through May 2009.
