DAYTON, Ohio -- Joshua Gearhart, a newly appointed Whitehall auxiliary officer, was arrested in Montgomery County following a domestic dispute with his former girlfriend.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputies said they found the former girlfriend Saturday night at the corner of state routes 741 and 725. She was wet and covered in mud.
She alleged Gearhart threatened her, and when she attempted to leave, he wrestled her to the ground in a ditch full of water.
Gearhart was being held in Montgomery County, accused of kidnapping.
Whitehall Police Chief Richard Zitske told NBC 4 Gearhart had just been appointed to be volunteer officer but had not even begun his training.
He had not been on the street in any capacity for Whitehall police. Zitske also said Gearhart will not go through the up to six-month peace-officer training, nor will he be permitted to become a peace officer for Whitehall.
