At the Bethel Road store in Northwest Columbus, Store Manager Dave Allen said 250 to 300 people were waiting outside. He said they headed straight to the electronics and toys departments. Tens of thousands of shoppers were expected to hit the outlet mall Friday. This year, the mall allowed shoppers on mall grounds from the start as opposed to making them wait outside the gates and run in as in years past. A spokesperson for the mall said they made the changes in light of the fatal trampling incident that happened at a Walmart last year.
There are multiple parking lots available, and free shuttles to get shoppers to and from the mall.
Some Black Friday shoppers started lining up for Best Buy's deals at 4 p.m. Thursday to ensure they would get exactly what was on their holiday list.
The doors opened at 5 a.m. Friday at the Best Buy on Morse Road, and people poured in to get the best deals.
TVs seem to be the hot item at this Best Buy location.
NBC 4 watched people carry, wheel, even drag items out of the store.
Some wore sweats, others pajamas, but most had their running shoes on for the busiest shopping day of the year.
