COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A concourse was closed and four TSA employees were transported to area hospitals after a strange odor was found at a Port Columbus International Airport security checkpoint.
Airport Spokeswoman Angie Tabor said four people were taken from the area at about 3:20 p.m. Witnesses said the people were removed on stretchers.
Officials closed the checkpoint at Concourse C for about an hour, and no one was allowed through the checkpoint area.
Officials said there were no flight delays as a result, but NBC 4's Ana Jackson reported the planes and flights were relocated to other concourses.
There were long lines as travelers were bused to different concourses.
Concourse C contains AirTran Airways, Delta/Delta Connection, and Northwest/Northwest Airlink.
Officials said the odor came from a rooftop construction project.
The four people who were transported were TSA employees or airport security. They were working at the front of the checkpoint.
Concourse C was reopened to travelers at about 4:30 p.m.
An air-quality check was completed before the reopening.
NBC 4 was waiting to hear on the four employees’ conditions.
No further information was immediately available.
