COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A woman who ran over and killed her neighbor in a West Side apartment complex pleaded guilty and was sentenced Wednesday.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.
Belinda Keeler, 43, pleaded guilty to a second-degree felony count of vehicular homicide in Franklin County Municipal Court Wednesday.
Judge Richard Pfeiffer sentenced Keeler to five years in prison.
Shannon Bennett, 54, fell off the hood of a moving car and was injured when it passed over his body at about 5 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009.
Bennett died from his injuries at Mount Carmel West nearly two hours after the incident at Bay Club Circle on the city’s West Side.
Witnesses said Bennett was trying to prevent Keeler from driving his car and told her that she had too much to drink. She got in the car anyway, witnesses said, and he jumped on the hood to discourage her.
Keeler originally was charged with aggravated vehicular homicide.
