LANCASTER, Ohio – The Lancaster Police Department is increasing patrols on residential streets for one simple reason—speeding.
The Lancaster police tell NBC 4, speeding was an issue on West 6th Avenue when the speed limit was 25 miles per hour, but since the legal limit was increased to 35 miles per hour, speeding does not seem to be an issue anymore. Residents, however, say speeding is still an issue that needs addressed.
Sherry Karr of Lancaster tells NBC 4, “people speed through here all the time, run the red lights, we can sit on the porch and watch them, we’ve spoke to police, but it’s back up again.”
Lancaster Police say they have not heard complaints within the past month about the speeding issue on West 6th, but say they will take a closer look at it.
