FRANKIN, COUNTY, Ohio -- South-Western City School district has cut $22 million over the last three years.
Proponents of Issue 47 have the signs, the T-shirts and four weeks until voters decide whether or not to pass a levy.
On November 3rd, a 7.4 mill operating levy will be on the ballot.
Over the past three years, 350 positions have been cut and sports programs have become nonexistent along with bussing.
According to Cathy Johnson, president school board, even if Issue 47 passes the district will have to cut another $15 million over the next four years.
Johnson says the district will reinstate sports programs on a pay to play basis and bussing will be restored if it passes.
Attorney General and graduate of South-Western City Schools Richard Cordray attended this afternoon's rally.
"I don't think anyone wants to pay extra money, but if we don't support and strengthen this community it will be more expensive for us in the long run, and at the same time we will let down the kids of this generation," said Cordray.
An opposition to Issue 47 rally will be held on Thursday, October 8th at the Grove City Church of the Nazarene. Brian Gumble along with the HBO Real Sports crew will also be on hand as this story gets national attention.
