Ohio Resident Fights Ten Commandments Display

»  Comments | Post a Comment

LOCKLAND, Ohio -- A resident has filed a lawsuit seeking removal of a Ten Commandments display in front of a suburban Cincinnati town hall.

The sign depicting the commandments has long been a fixture in the village of Lockland, but Christopher Knecht says he only recently noticed it. He says it needs to go, and he also wants the court to prevent future displays of what he calls "religious fables and myths."

Officials in the community just north of Cincinnati say they haven't seen the lawsuit and can't comment. Federal court rulings have prohibited such displays unless they are historical in nature. Knecht's claim is part of a federal lawsuit he filed after disputes with police and a neighbor over the neighbor's dog. He also wants $500,000 in punitive damages.
