COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Police asked for the public’s help after an elderly man was beaten and carjacked on the city’s near Northeast Side.

A 77-year-old man exited a market at 900 E. 5th Ave. and was returning to his vehicle at 7:29 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26.
Columbus police said two teenage suspects approached the man as he was getting into his vehicle.
One of the suspects displayed a firearm and demanded his car keys, police said.
The victim was hit in the head; he attempted to defend himself.
One of the suspects sped away in the man’s vehicle, and the other suspect fled the scene on foot, police said.
The suspects were described as black males in their late teens.
