DAYTON, Ohio -- Authorities say a regional commuter jet whose pilot issued a call for help when the aircraft was left with one operable engine landed safely at Dayton International Airport.

The Freedom Air flight carrying 47 passengers was bound from Detroit to Cincinnati.

Dayton police Sergeant Damon Castor says emergency crews were put on alert when the airplane began experiencing trouble Tuesday night. Airport spokeswoman Linda Hughes says the plane landed with one working engine and was being examined by mechanics to determine the cause of the problem.
