COLUMBUS, Ohio – New proposed standards for heating and air conditiong units will save you money, energy and help the environment at the same time.
If the proposed standards are passed, the new units will probably cost a few hundred dollars more than what is available right now, but the energy efficiency and manufacturing groups say the new units need significantly less electricity to run, so you will make up for the higher purchase prices with cheaper monthly energy bills.
One of the two things needed to happen for the new standards to be put in place is Congress must either enact a law, or the Department of Energy needs to adopt new standards.
