FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio -- Local health officials announced scheduled vaccination clinics for at-risk residents Monday.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS from Columbus Public Health and the Franklin County Board of Health.
Supplies are limited because of limited vaccine availability.
The vaccination clinics are open to health-care providers who provide direct patient care, pregnant women and caregivers of children younger than 6 months.
The vaccinations will be free.
FluMist will be provided to health-care providers and caregivers of children younger than 6 months who are 49 years old and younger with no medical contraindication.
That means FluMist will be given to those who don’t have a symptom or condition that makes it inadvisable.
Those risk groups were identified by the CDC because they are more vulnerable to H1N1 influenza and are at an increased risk of severe complications.
Officials said additional clinics will be offered for the other high-risk groups as soon as local public health departments receive additional vaccine.
CLINIC DETAILS:
- 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Columbus Public Health, 240 Parsons Ave., Columbus.
- 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the Grove City Recreation Center, 4665 Hoover Rd., Grove City.
The clinics are held on a first-come-first-served basis. You cannot schedule an appointment.
