CENTRAL Ohio -- A local school district is dealing with the effects of the flu.
A record number of teachers and students were sick and absent from Zanesville schools for a portion of this week, prompting school officials to send letters home reminding parents and students to be aware of the spread of the H1N1 virus.
NBC 4 checked with officials to determine if a plan is in place for Columbus City Schools if a large number of teachers became ill.
According to Columbus City Schools spokesperson Kim Norris, the district's staff levels are normal and they are continuing to prevent H1N1 by following the guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control.
School officials are encouraging people to stay home if they have a fever of 100 or higher.
Officials said they are hopeful to see the H1N1 vaccine clinics at Columbus City Schools.
"We don't have all the details on that yet, but when we do, we will make it clear on our Web site, and with (media) help too," Norris said.
