COLUMBUS, Ohio – A suspect allegedly shot a homeowner and killed a dog early Thursday morning, and Columbus police continued to search for the suspect.

A suspect forced his way into the back of a home on South Burgess Avenue at about 1:30 a.m. and opened fire, according to police.
A man was shot in the hand during the West Side home invasion. He was treated at the scene.
The suspect fatally shot a dog at the home before fleeing, police said.
It remained unclear if the suspect stole anything from the residence.
The victim's identity was not released currently.
CPD continued to investigate and search for the suspect.
