CENTRAL OHIO -- Patients who think they are infected with seasonal flu or the H1N1 virus are jamming Central Ohio doctor’s offices.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.
Dr. Paul Nanda, a family physician for OSU Family Practice in Worthington, says people are panicking.
“With the change of seasons, we can expect to see illnesses such as the common cold, sinusitis, bronchitis and sore throat. That does not automatically mean it’s the flu,” Nanda said.
Flu normally sets in very quickly and presents symptoms such as body aches, fever and fatigue.
Other illnesses are just as annoying but do not require medical attention.
Typically, these ailments go away in a few days with rest, plenty of liquids and a day or two from work.
“These illnesses do not require prescription medications. In fact, we do not like to give out antibiotics to cure them. It's best to let it run its course," Nanda said.
