DELAWARE, Ohio -- A Columbus man was found guilty of aggravated robbery Thursday evening, according to officials.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.
Eight women and four men deliberated for about two hours Thursday evening before convicting a 24-year-old Daniel Bohanna on the attempted robbery of a restaurant worker depositing funds into a local bank, Delaware County Prosecuting Attorney David Yost said.
Bohanna was found guilty of one count aggravated robbery with a gun specification, a first-degree felony. A second count of having weapons while under disability was dismissed.
Bohanna was arrested July 24, 2009, after Delaware County sheriff’s deputies responded to the Meijer store off Columbus Pike in Lewis Center on an attempted robbery call.
The manager of a nearby Taco Bell said a masked man threatened him with a gun and demanded the money in the Meijer parking lot. The victim was there to deposit funds at the
US Bank inside the Meijer.
Bohanna never got the money and fled the scene in a red Jeep.
“This was a circumstantial case, but the jury was able to pull back the mask and find the truth,” Yost said.
Bohanna’s sentencing was scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, before Common Pleas Judge Everett H. Krueger.
A mandatory three-year prison term for the gun specification was to be served first and consecutively to what he receives for the aggravated robbery. In all, he faced a maximum of 13 years in prison.
